Poker Ride Cancelled!
It is with much disappointment that we must cancel our Poker Ride to be held on 10/2/21. The El Dorado Forest Service has decided to cancel all permits for the month of October. We are not the only event that was cancelled. They were concerned for everyone’s safety in the event of a fire given the current fire conditions and the stretched personnel still fighting the existing fires.
But all is not lost !!!! We have secured an alternative activity for October 2.
We would like to invite everyone to come ride with us at the Auburn State Recreation Area Olmstead Loop staging area in Cool from 1pm to 4pm.
This will be an informal riding get-together and meet-and-greet. We spoke with many Poker Ride participants who said that they wanted to meet people and stop riding alone. So here is your chance to meet some of our local horsemen! The trails will not be marked, but the trails are easy to follow. If you are unfamiliar with the trails, please ask, and we will marry you with someone who is. Rig parking will be based on first come, first serve. Please pay the parking/day use fees required by the state.
Following your ride, please join us for complementary pizza and soft drinks at the American River Grill next to the staging area. Beer and wine can be purchased for those that would prefer an alcoholic beverage. We will be bringing the goodie bags that we had made up for the Poker Ride participants as well as RAFFLE PRIZES!! There will be a short meeting to discuss what members and participants would like to see GDETF set as priority projects and activities for our members and guests. We would also like to build a board slate for 2022.
For those that have already paid their Poker Ride fees and made campground reservations, please check your email for further instructions. If you are interested in joining us at Olmstead, please RSVP to GDETF2@gmail.com with the number of riders, rig sizes, and how many will be eating with us.
